2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Full House Slopestyle Event Info

With the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Full House Slopestyle at Whitefish Mountain Resort just over 24 hours away the excitement level is quickly increasing.  This Saturday competitors from all over the greater Northern Rockies area are coming together to showcase the best slopestyle skiing and snowboarding in the region.  This is the second stop of the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour.  Some competitors will be out there pushing for their chance to be named the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour Champion, while others will be there to represent their local hills with pride.

To help supplement the excitement around the tour our fantastic sponsors have be gracious with their donations for this event, which means we have a TON of amazing things to give away this Saturday. So ride hard and walk away with amazing gear!!  Online registration is still open, and their will also be two more opportunities for competitors to register in person.  The first will be at our Official    Pre-Registration/Competitor Check-In Party at The Toggery in downtown Whitefish.  There will be a raffle with prizes including skis from Montana Ski Company, jackets from Eider Outerwear, ISO Therapeutic session and many more items (DO NOT need to be present to win!!).  There will also be a day of the event registration Saturday morning at the Whitefish Mountain Resort Events Department "Green Building" in the upper village.  Competitors will be able to purchase tickets for a reduced rate of $39.  All competitors under 18 years old must have a signed by a legal guardian.  A copy of this can be found on our Facebook page, at any registration/check-in event or by emailing our Tour Director.

The schedule for the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Full House Slopestyle @ Whitefish Mountain Resort:

If a competitor chooses to pick their bib up at the Pre-Registration/Check-In Party at the Toggery they must keep track of their bib.  Competitors will not be allowed to enter the event venue without their bib.  In the case that a competitor loses their bib before the event, they will not be allowed to enter the course until they receive a new bib from the Whitefish Mountain Resort Events Department, which will cost an ADDITIONAL $50.  Please keep track of your bib so you dont have to do this!

February 27th Pre-Registration/Competitor Check-In Party @ The Toggery in Whitefish

The 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Full House Slopestyle is taking over Whitefish Mountain Resort on Saturday, February 28^th.  The organizers are excited about the event and want to make this the best Slopestyle Whitefish Mountain Resort has ever hosted.

On Friday, February 27^th, all competitors, family members, and friends are invited to The Toggery in downtown Whitefish for a competitor registration and check-in party from 5:30pm-8:30pm.  Competitors will be able to check-in for the Full House Slopestyle at this event.  This means you can register, parents can sign event waivers, pick up competition bibs, enjoy food/drinks and take part in an awesome raffle for ski and snowboarding gear from Eider Clothing and a pair of handmade skis from Montana Ski Company.

This means competitors can get all of their registration stuff done the night before the event so all you need to worry about Saturday morning is showing up for training.  This is our way of simplifying the process for you and your family, while simultaneously putting on a fun and exciting event!

Competitors will be held accountable for their bib.  If a competitor check’s in the night before the event, they will be responsible for their bib.  If a competitor loses their bib prior to the event, they will not be allowed to compete in the event until they reimburse Whitefish Mountain Resort Events Department back for their lost bib and receive a new one ($50 bib fee).  If a competitor fails to do this, they will not be allowed to compete at the event and will not receive a refund.  So Keep an eye on your bib.

2015 Smoking Aces Tour Points System

Alrighty everyone!!! We are just over one week away from the start of the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour at Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Excitement is building and online registrations are stacking up. If you haven't registered already, go ahead and get registered @ www.smokingacestour.eventbrite.com

There are some small changes to announce/explain in how our points works for the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour Championship Point System.  We are continuing to have NO MEMBERSHIP FEES for competitors to participate in the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour.

Competitors will acquire points based on their place in their division as according to the official results. They will also gain bonus points based on the number of competitors in their division.  Here is the point totals related to place:
1st - 30 Points
2nd - 25 Points
3rd - 20 Points
4th - 15 Points
5th - 10 Points
6th - 5 Points
7th & Bellow - Only Acquire Points For Division Totals

As I already mentioned, competitors will gain additional points based off the total number of competitors in their specific division. Therefore, if a competitor is in a division with a total of 12 competitors, they will gain an addition 12 points to their result points.

Here is the equation: competitors final result + total number of competitors in the division = point value for the event.

Examples:
Jacob is competing at the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Ante Up Slopestyle.  He is competing in the   14-17 Skiing Division. There are a total of 7 competitors in the 14-17 skiing division.  Jacob finished 3rd on the official results in his division.  Jacob's point value for this event is 27 points. 
20 (official finish) + 7 (total number of competitors) = 27 (Jacob's points for the Ante Up Slopestyle)

Kyle is competing at the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Royal Flush Tour Championship.  He has a total of 67 points accumulated from the first two events.  He has been competing in the Open Snowboarding Division.  Kyle finished 2nd on the official results in his division. There were a total of 17 competitors in the Snowboarding Open.  Kyle's point value for this event is 42.  He now has a total Tour Point value of 109.

We have made these changes to our points system in the efforts to award competitors for doing well at events that have more competitors in their divisions.  Effectively, our goal is to tighten up the race between competitors whom are seeking to win the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour Championship. 

Tour Champions will be announced at the awards ceremony of the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Royal Flush Championship Slopestyle.

Ante Up Slopestyle - January 24th, 2105 @ Schweitzer Mountain Resort Registration OPEN

Ladies and Gentlemen........ Registration is official open for the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour: Ante Up Slopestyle @ Schweitzer Mountain Resort.  Follow this link to our online registration platform to get signed up (www.smokingacesschweitzer.eventbrite.com).  There are some changes to be noted about the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour.  We have done some shuffling of the age divisions in the efforts to generate a larger and more diverse competitive scene.  This being said here are the 2015 Smoking Aces Divisions:

Men's 13 & Under
Men's 14-17
Men's 18 & Over
Women's Lower
Women's Upper
Open Division

All divisions have a separate skiing and snowboarding category.  The women's divisions are to be selected based upon the rider's skill level.  Women do have the option to enter the open division and throw down agains the boys!

Event fees are as follows; all age divisions and women's divisions are $35 and the Open Divisions are $40.

The biggest change to the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour online registration is the ability to register for the entire 2015 Smoking Aces Tour at once!!! This means competitors can sign up for all three tour stops with only a few clicks!  Also, competitors will receive a discounted rate for registering for the whole tour at once.  AWESOME!!!! Riders will only be able to register for the whole tour up until the close of the Ante Up Slopestyle @ Schweitzer Mountain Resort's online registration on January 23rd, 2015.

Welcome to the Official Blog of the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour

There are so many ways I could take this first blog, because we have so much information to pass on to all of you! The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU! Thank you for coming to this page, thank you for making it to the end of each of my posts, thank you for being awesome and last but not least thank you for supporting the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour!!! Whether you are a competitor, a parent, a sponsor, a spectator, my mother or anyone else out there that gets excited about snow, you are all the flame behind this tour.  You give us a reason to do what we are doing.  You make these events bigger and better with your support.  For that, I deeply and truly thank you.  Being able to do something like this is a dream come true.  Skiing has been deeply ingrained into my blood for generations.  Competitive skiing drove me to places and situations that I could have never imagined.  Now being able to give back to that community is something very special to me.  One last time, thank you for this experience.

Now on to the reason we are all here.  The 2015 Smoking Aces Tour! I am really excited to be getting things rolling for the 2015 tour.  We are excited to have three of the best resorts in region hosting the tour.  Schweitzer Mountain Resort just outside of Sandpoint, Idaho is the new comer to the tour.  Whitefish Mountain Resort is back this year to host our second event, while Big Sky Resort has taken the honors of hosting the 2015 Smoking Aces Championship.

Here are the specific dates:
January 21st, 2015 - Ante Up Slopestyle - Schweitzer Mountain Resort (Sandpoint, ID)
February 28th, 2015 - Full House Slopestyle - Whitefish Mountain Resort (Whitefish, MT)
March 21, 2015 - Royal Flush Championship Slopestyle - Big Sky Resort (Big Sky, MT)

These dates really excite me! I believe that having some time between each of the event will give our traveling competitors some time to prepare for their trips, as well as give all the competitors time to dial in bigger and better tricks.  Bringing Schweitzer Mountain Resort on this year is exciting, because it will bring a whole new group of shredders in to the tour mix.  They have had very successful slopestyle events, such as Stomp Games.  If you happen to watch any freestyle ski movies you may recall this resort.  They know how to build big jumps!  Whitefish Mountain Resort is my home resort.  I have an undying love for this mountain.  It is where I learned how to ski (later backflips/1080s/rail slides/etc.).  They always put together a great terrain park with tons of features.  As an epic side note, February 28th is my birthday! Having a tour date at my home resort on my birthday is going to be a fantastic gift to myself :)  This brings us to the Royal Flush Championship Slopestyle at Big Sky Resort.  Last year, the event at Big Sky Resort was our best turn out.  At the end of the year the individuals in charge contacted us requesting to host the tour championships in 2015.  How could I ever have said no? We are so excited to know that the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour Championships will be hosted at the "Largest Ski Resort in the United States!!"  These three resorts together pack a very big punch.  This is why I have no problem saying that the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour is the biggest and best slopestyle tour in the United States Northern Rockies.

We are also excited about the sponsors that are coming in to support the 2015 Smoking Aces Tour.  There are returning sponsors and new sponsors alike.  For all you riders out there, you know what this means.  EPIC PRIZES and CASH PURSES!!  As we get a better picture of who all of our event sponsors are we will get that information to your frontal lobes.  We are always open to new sponsors, so if you know of anyone or have questions yourself, please do not hesitate to contact us.
